NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 29) - A mother faces criminal charges after she hired a stripper to dance at her 16-year-old son's birthday party.

Anette Pharris, 34, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and involving a minor in obscene acts. The boy's father, the stripper and two others also face charges.

''I tried to do something special for my son,'' Pharris said. ''It didn't harm him.''

About 10 people under the age of 18 were at the birthday party in September, including minors who were not related to the family, authorities said.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said minors are not permitted in adult establishments.

''A person shouldn't be allowed to circumvent that law by hiring a stripper, a lady who took all her clothes off and spent a good amount of time dancing around minors,'' he said.

Anette Pharris took photos at the party and tried to have them developed at a nearby drug store. Drug store employees notified authorities, police said.

''Who are they to tell me what I can and can't show to my own children?'' the mother said.

Dammit Tyrant, you beat me to this one!!!! I'll get you Tyrant, I'll get you and your little dog Toto too!!! Mwahahaha :kaioken:

Anyway, I think I likes this mommy. She can be my mommy any day of the week. Doing such a special thing for her little boy on his big day. Besides, why not. Every year the age for the death penalty gets lower and lower. So why not let the young ones live it up a little more - who knows when we (society) will decide to euthenize one of the little bastards

Here is a link to the same story at USA Today's Site

Also, here is photo I took of the results of the poll on the subject at the AOL News site. Its very interesting as it appears that America is pretty divided over the issue. Out of almost 200,000 respondants, almost a full half sided with the stripper hiring mom - unless of course half the respondants to the poll are all 15-year olds (male and female) hoping their parents will get them a stripper on their 16th birthday too. Definitely a sign of the times. Like it or not, society is definitely moving to something more open. I guess you cannot live in a society where for over 200 years we speak loudly (and proudly) about individual freedoms and rights to privacy and not expect that at some point or another, these principals begin to really embed themselves into the collective subconsious.

I was seriously expecting the results on the poll to reflect an overwhelming "conservative" view with close to 85% to 90% of respondants crusifying the mom in this news story. But to see that the actual numbers are much closer to an even 50/50 split is . . . interesting.

I am glad to see people are more open about it. It wasent like she was showing the stripper to 10 year olds. He was 16 and probably looked at porn the day before. Society is so blind to the actual problems. "Dont show my son that stripper, you will corrupt him" and while you are saying this, hes taking a hit of crack down the street and getting ready to jump a kid for his money...yeah its pathetic...

I would have gotten a hooker instead of a stripper.

No  I meant I would have hired a hooker for the party. But I joke. My mom would have hired a clown or something.
